Celebrities who experience tinnitus

Posted on Jul 3, 2015

Many of us will have heard a ringing in our ears from time to time, such as after a night out at dance clubs or after a music concert. Some people may even experience it after a long haul flight.

Fortunately, these episodes of phantom ringing, humming and buzzing tend to fade after a while, but for those who don't find relief with time, it can indicate tinnitus.

There is no one cause for tinnitus, and it can affect different people in different ways – fluctuating in intensity throughout the day, occurring in one or both ears. It can also be a source of distraction and distress, sometimes impacting our sleep patterns.

If you're experiencing symptoms, you may benefit from a specialised tinnitus solution. However, you may also be interested to hear that you aren't alone in your suffering; tinnitus can affect celebrities too.

Famous singer Barbra Streisand spoke about her experience with tinnitus on "The Barbara Walters Special", describing having been affected by ringing in her ears since she was a child1

More recently, rapper and performer Will.I.Am admitted to having tinnitus, joining the likes of U.S. actor William Shatner, Neil Young and Chris Martin, reports the Hearing Health Foundation.

"I've had tinnitus for about 10 years, and since I started protecting my ears it hasn't got any worse – touch wood," Chris Martin, lead singer for Coldplay told The Mirror2.

"Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don't think about until there's a problem. I wish I'd thought about it earlier."2
