David CornishMaster of Audiology
I have worked as a clinical audiologist for Hearing Life in Stirling since June, 2015. My first audiology job after graduation was at a small clinic in the city. Before audiology, I prepared non-English speakers for university, first in South Korea and China, and then at Flinders University. I became interested in hearing after writing an article for Policy magazine on the impact of glue ear on language acquisition for indigenous children. My research powerfully illustrated to me that good hearing helped children learn more, to communicate and relate better, and improved self-esteem. A ‘deaf sentence’ can be isolating, and I get great satisfaction out of matching needs with suitable technology. I won several prizes as an audiology student, including the Staff Prize. I have published on hearing issues for journals including Audiology Now.
